New Years Eve Mass

We were good and attended Mass on the last day of the year in the Chapelle du Christ-Roi, in Luxembourg, celebrated in French by Father Jacques Weisshaupt, who is Swiss. OK, ok, so we were actually there also for a baptism, for which I was the godfather. :)

Graffiti

It's amazing, but I never realized just how clean Malaysian walls are in general, it can sometimes be quite difficult to find any graffiti at all, but in Europe, especially Germany it would seem, every available surface not actively patrolled by some guardsmen or police is painted with some graffiti.

Gravestones

A bit of a morbid image, I suppose (although you don't actually see the gravestones in this image), but I spotted this family run workshop (Lapidas Alfonso Y Garcia) that makes the most beautiful carved, Catholic gravestones. I'll see if they'll let me take some pictures of the actual gravestones themselves. And across the street, almost symbolic of the old being replaced by the new, some construction is underway. Just like the souls that are now moving on to the afterlife.

Mesti Ada Gaya

We saw this guy on the long drive home (well... long for Malaysia - 4 hours) after yesterday's meeting. Interestingly, he wasn't the only one riding like this. There seemed to be others riding with other styles too.

Mesti Ada Gaya - a saying in the Malay language that goes something like, "Whatever you do, do it with some style."

Aaargh! Bad parking!

Maybe our whole family and the people closest to us are all a bunch of meticulous fanatics, but why can't people park properly?

Attack of the tourists

I took this just over a year ago, it still tickles me to see it.

On one hand it's amusing, but on another, I can't help but feel bothered how some people just put their feet everywhere.

Paralympics

Was in the airport today to send Rosa off, and found that the paralympics had come to KLIA! All the teams from all the countries appeared to be there.

Quite a number of the Japanese and Aussie teams had descended on McDonald's for dinner. So much for healthy athletes? This must be after the paralympics and everybody is headed home!

The baggage handlers and reps taking care of the athletes' luggage...
