Scratch Build #001!

Idle hands don't stay idle for too long! Suhairi and I have finished our first scratch built plane! The wing is warped so it will always want to turn left, but we reckon that a bit of right rudder and good amount of manual right turn input will solve that! We cannibalized a Nikko twin steering RC airplane's receiver, motor controller, mixer circuit and motors to become the power plant for our new plane! An initial test chuck shows it glides very nicely indeed.

The original plane from Nikko was not properly balanced and was very tail heavy, requiring lightening at the back in the tail section and balast weight in the nose (no idea how much, just stuck things in the nose until it would glide properly).

All the major component parts for the new plane! Mostly, we used 1/32nd inch thick balsa sheet.

The completed plane with electronics liberated from the original plane and installed in the new plane!
