Pasar Pagi

In Malaysia, it's more customary to have this sort of market at night, the pasar malam, owing to excessive heat during daylight hours in Malaysia, making night time more conducive to people coming out for a stroll to visit the market. In Spain on the other hand, they do it in the morning, every Thursday in the case of this town. Different places, same thing, same reason. Here though, it seems far more social than it does in Malaysia.

I love to brouse through all these markets. Can take hours to go through the ones in Paris and Vienna and even so you would not have really scoured the whole area! Lots of collectables too! In Oz they are held on different weekends for different areas eg second Saturday for Wallan and frist Saturday for Kilmore etc. Concept is still the same - farm or home grown produce and home made jams and home crafts and not home made ones too of course and also lots of collectables. Ah Mah has been to the one in Wallan and she loves it.

And oh it's also Pasar Pagi in Oz and of course in Vienna, Budapest and Paris, and UK. Budapest is more tourisy and so is the one in Venice and at the fishing village that we went to by boat. The last one we went to in UK was in Romsey, about 30 or 40 minutes by bus from Tig's place at West Thurrock. And in Bankok of course Chatuchak is the mother of all markets and permanently there! with food - stall types as well as proper restaurants! I am waiting to go to another big one in Hobart called Salamanda Market in Tasmania. That Crown Prince Frederick of Denmark on his recent visit to Hobart with with his Tasmanian C Princess Mary - was also seen with their baby stroller anbd alll and carry all sorts of plastic bags at Salamanda!
